With all of the interesting facts and places that this research project has shown me, it almost makes me sad that we aren’t actually going to Mexico. In our Spanish class, we started by researching facts about specific places in Mexico like population numbers which we then compared to Texas and some of its cities because we are reading a book in which the main character get an opportunity to travel to Mexico. It was pretty astounding how much of a difference there was in the number of people. Part of the project was labelling certain states and cities on a map so that we could learn a tad bit of Mexico’s geography. It sort of helped to visualize exactly what was going on in the story we’re reading.
After we finished with the first part of the project, we got to look at different places you could travel to in Mexico and where we would go if we could two of which had to be in Nayarit (where the girl in our book goes). It kind of put us in the place of the main character of our book in that it was like we were traveling. Just thinking about other countries, people don’t necessarily think of all of the cool places they could have, but actually researching the places can help you to learn about it. Two places that I thought were the coolest that I get to research were Riviera in Nayarit and Chichen Itza in Yucatan. These two would be the coolest because both seem like really beautiful places and can offer interesting historical facts.
